Whitenoise Produces Animated Graphics Package for HopSkip Studio's New RTE TV Show

Production company HopSkip Studios partners with Whitenoise to educate young viewers about climate action and sustainable choices through vibrant animation

HopSkip Studios is a female-led production company based in Northern Ireland, specialising in educational content for children and young people. HopSkip Studios have already made their name producing a range of programmes for a variety of young viewers ranging from fully animated series’ to studio content with actors.

Earlier this year Kate and Aisling at HopSkip Studios approached Whitenoise and asked us to produce a graphics package for a six part educational programme for young people called ‘What’s Next?’.

‘What’s Next?’ is an educational programme featuring a group of 6 young people going head to head with the help of 3 well-known influencers, pitching their big ideas that could save the planet. Each episode features 3 kids who are partnered up with an influencer to develop their ideas. At the end of each episode the kids with the help of their partner pitch their idea in hopes of being chosen to go through to the next stage of the show. The overall goal of the show is to get through to the final in hopes to win the opportunity to pitch their idea to a well-known environmental activist and entrepreneur

We created a fully animated graphics package for the show including name tags, presenter/participant intros, problem sequences, pitch sequences, blackboard animations and more. The chosen style is a cutout paper style integrating photography which allowed us some artistic licence to have fun with imagining scenarios without limitations. By integrating real photography taken of the presenters and children taking part in the show we achieved a fun vibrant style that integrated into the show seamlessly.

Initial feedback from viewers has been strong and children and young people are loving the show content and style, and most importantly, are left empowered to learn about our planet and ways to live in a more environmentally friendly way.

‘Having never worked on a kids TV show before, it was a pleasure to explore ways to capture the interest and attention of a young audience through animation. ‘What’s Next?’ was so much fun to work on and enabled me to learn the in’s and out’s of creating content for TV. And to see my name in the credits is a nice bonus.'
- Ciaran McLaughlin, Senior Animator

‘Turning these kids' whacky ideas into animations was great fun and a challenge! It allowed me to be really creative, especially with the cutout paper technique. I think the result turned out great and I’m looking forward to seeing our work on TV.'
- Natasha Rooney, Senior Animator
