Ireland's No.1 Fitness Bootcamp Elevates Online Presence


With lockdowns, restrictions, and limited indoor capacity due to the COVID-19 crisis, the fitness industry was thrown a few curveballs. As fitness studios and gyms faced closures and capacity restrictions, outdoor fitness classes excelled in popularity. With competition increasing, Mercury Fitness NI needed to find new, innovative ways to target new audiences, and that's where we came on to find out how our Digital team have been providing Mercury with the necessary tools to drive tangible business results!

Mercury Fitness NI is Ireland’s No.1 Fitness Bootcamp, empowering members to have a better lifestyle by hosting outdoor boot camp sessions across several locations in Northern Ireland. Mercury provides 6-week Transformation Programs, Health & Wellbeing workshops and Nutritional Support for clients. 

Unlike some of our digital clients, Mercury Fitness already had an established social media presence, but it required a creative overhaul. In teaming up with Whitenoise, they wanted to reach the following goals; to increase their online presence, create a strong and consistent digital style, have a better understanding of user needs and have a more customer-focused digital strategy. Armed with goals, objectives and our shiny new strategy, we identified key platforms and got to work.


Our Approach and Impact

In a hyper-modern marketplace, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for fitness businesses to “stand out from the crowd” and get noticed so to achieve success, our digital team took steps to refine and reinforce what made Mercury Fitness NI unique. 


To begin with, we conducted a brand identity consolidation. With our careful advice and guidance, the disparate and inconsistent logo was pulled into alignment with one consistent and strong brand identity, reinforced with brand elements such as a suite of bespoke icons to communicate Mercury’s many offerings and values. In doing this, we were able to recenter the digital image of the brand, establishing a strong and recognizable online brand identity. 

Social Media Approach 

Following on from this refresh of the key brand assets, we created a framework for digital content, driven by an understanding of target customers and led by a bespoke content calendar. With a regular content schedule covering both series and unique content types, the content was designed to reflect the passionate and playful Mercury Fitness NI identity. Our brand team developed a bank of stylish and consistent social media templates to use across their main social media channels; Instagram and Facebook. 


Once this bank of material was created, we were able to drip-feed creative and sales-focused content across the relevant platforms, targeted at existing members and prospective customers. Content produced ranges from static graphics to video, motion graphics to online promotional brochures.


Management Of Social Media Accounts

With a bank of content at our disposal, the Whitenoise team manage the Mercury Fitness NI social media accounts, delivering to a three-month schedule, delivering unique creative and optimising local, regional and national “energy moments”. Content is created and the copy is produced by the Whitenoise digital team, who schedule and post across both social platforms daily.


Creation of the Mercury Vibe Podcast and promotion across all digital platforms. 


We collaborated with Mercury to launch their fitness podcast, The Mercury Vibe. With our shiny new recording suite we were able to facilitate the production of podcast episodes with various guest speakers and industry professionals. The podcast was launched on Spotify and promoted across all social media platforms with branding consistent with the Mercury Fitness visual identity.

Alongside the organic content developed by the Whitenoise digital team, we also delivered a paid advertising campaign intending to boost brand awareness across social media. This involved a film shoot on location with instructors and members taking part in an outdoor boot camp class. Our awesome film team captured plenty of exciting footage which was edited together for promotional content.

Paid Advertising

As Ireland’s best Bootcamp, credibility and disability is key to maintaining Mercury’s success. As such, the Mercury Fitness team wanted to run a social media campaign alongside their organic social media presence to maximise their reach online. In order to achieve this, we developed a strategic approach, created paid advertisement assets and copy and executed monthly campaigns across Facebook and Instagram.
