There are countless legendary graphic designers who have helped shape the world of design as we know it today. From early pioneers like Saul Bass to contemporary trailblazers like Stefan Sagmeister, these creative minds have pushed boundaries, challenged conventions, and captivated audiences around the world. On Thursday 10th April, we gathered at Belfast Exposed to honour a figure who has done exactly that, right here in Northern Ireland.
Mark Case isn’t just a name in the local design community, but a cornerstone in a thriving industry. For over four decades, Mark has shaped, guided, and elevated the design landscape in Northern Ireland, but his influence stretches far beyond the incredible body of work he’s produced. Mark’s legacy lies just as much in the people he’s mentored, the talents he’s nurtured, and the creative confidence he has instilled in so many.
Throughout his career, Mark has championed the next generation of designers, empowering young creatives to believe in their vision and step into their full potential. Whether through teaching, collaboration, or simple acts of encouragement, his generosity of spirit and passion for the craft have left an indelible mark (pardon the pun) on countless individuals.
The retirement celebration at Belfast Exposed was a heartfelt evening filled with stories, laughter, memories, and, of course, some beautiful artworks courtesy of our fantastic brand team. Friends, family, colleagues, and employees came together to toast a man whose contribution to our creative culture is truly immeasurable. It was a night to reflect not only on an impressive career but on a life lived with purpose, generousity, and creativity at its core.
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us in making the evening so special. Your presence and shared memories helped make it a fitting tribute to someone who has given so much to our community.
Whilst this may read similar to eulogy, we are pleased to report Mark is very much alive and well, and is expected to land in Portugal later this month where he will start the next chapter of his life relaxing in the sun with his beloved wife, Karen.
Mark, your impact will continue to ripple through the industry for years to come. Though you may be retiring from your day-to-day work as the captain of this ship (although 'never say never'), your influence is far from over. Here’s to the legacy you’ve built - and to everything coming next.
