Kabosh, an independent theatre company based in Belfast, was founded in 1994 and after three decades of impact on the arts sector is now nationally renowned for producing provocative performances that challenge perspectives and reimagine identities. Their innovative approach transforms traditional theatre, offering audiences immersive experiences that deepen their connection to the narratives presented. With a talented team of actors, playwrights, designers, technicians, film makers, and musicians, they produce high-quality performances that explore sensitive issues with depth and authenticity.
Kabosh brings stories to life in unique settings, engaging communities and commemorating Northern Ireland’s past through powerful performances. By sharing compelling narratives, the theatre encourages audiences to experience and reimagine these moments in history. In addition to their programme, they also offer walking tours of Belfast, retelling local stories through the voices of diverse communities and representatives. This unique approach provides visitors to the area with a deeper understanding of the city's past.
Kabosh commissioned Whitenoise to create a refreshed brand identity for the theatre group, including a new logo, roll out across materials and copmprehensive brand guidelines for future use and application. Now it’s time to drop the curtain and unveil the new look!
Our brand development process began with a period of desk-based industry research and collaborative in-person stakeholder conversations, charting the course towards a modernisation of their already well known identity. After review and consideration, the Kabosh team acknowledge the potential and opportunity that could be unleashed with a more distinct update of their logo within the existing colour palette. In response, Whitenoise explored different fonts, shapes, and gradients, ultimately leading to their new brand identity.
The new identity is as versatile as the performers it represents, capable of being used both horizontally and vertically, with or without the red square, and selected gradients can be added throughout any graphics created to add textures and depth to represent layers of nuance and storytelling.
In addition to the logo, Whitenoise produced extensive brand guidelines, empowering the Kabosh team to create their own promotional graphics that are consistent with the new branding. This guidance is reinforced with pratical tools including a suite of social media assets and templates.
