Whitenoise designers open up a new chapter for Armstrong Storytelling Trust

A fresh new brand identity for local storytellers

The Armstrong Storytelling Trust is a registered charity set up to promote the art of storytelling, develop new storytellers and preserve and enhance access to stories with active engagement in communities throughout Northern Ireland.

In the context of the NI Troubles and legacy of conflict, the Trust is driven by the desire to promote cultural understanding and bring people together.

A recent praised project named “Border Talk” fused a creative partnership between Storytellers of Ireland (SOI) and the Armstrong Storytelling Trust, facilitating activities in border regions as part of peace and reconciliation outreach.

Led by Liz Weir (recently appointed with an MBE for services to education), the trust approached Whitenoise to commission a new brand identity which would reflect their deep history and connection the ancient art of storytelling, whilst also propelling them into the future with a modern and appealing visual identity.

Our approach to this partnership first involved brand consultation with key stakeholders to get under the skin of the Trust's history and goals for the future. The development of a new brand identity including logo design, primary and secondary colour palette development, typefaces and imagery treatment are all supported by comprehensive brand guidelines that the Trust team have taken full ownership over.

“When we approached Whitenoise, we requested they design a new brand identity for our charity. We had an idea that it should reflect the art of oral storytelling, its dynamic nature and heritage. The team really listened to us and were able to accurately interpret our request, translating our vision into powerful images. We are so happy with our new brand. It is simple, adaptable and has longevity.

The Whitenoise team were a real pleasure to work with and turned this around very quickly. I’d recommend Whitenoise to anyone considering a rebrand."
