Whitenoise Wrapped: Our 2024 Creative Reflections

The ideas and projects that shaped our year

As the year draws to a close, we took a moment to reflect on our favourite projects of 2024. At Whitenoise, our monthly creative roundups have become a burst of inspiration and an opportunity to share campaigns, brands, and ideas that sparked our imagination. For this final roundup of the year, we went a step further by revisiting the work that we’re most proud of creating. From exciting rebranding projects to vibrant animations, we each picked a personal highlight from our year.

This month’s roundup isn’t just a look back; it’s also a reminder of the power of collaboration and bold ideas. Whether it was tackling a challenging brief, reimagining a brand from scratch, or delivering a campaign that resonated far and wide, every project represents a piece of who we are as a creative agency. These highlights capture not only our skill but also the passion that drives us to push boundaries. As we share our favourites, we hope you’ll find the same spark of inspiration that fuels us - and a glimpse of what’s to come in 2025!

Michael Reynolds, Head of Film Production
Cancer Fund for Children - Corporate Video
"I always really enjoy working with the Cancer Fund for Children team. So, when they asked us about creating a new corporate video to promote their work I jumped at the opportunity. Being able to work on something that creates more awareness about what this fantastic charity does is honestly a real honour. It’s the potential positive impact the work could have in helping some of the strongest, most courageous children and families I’ve ever met. It’s a piece that really matters, that makes a difference and that is incredibly important to me."

Alex Kirkpatrick, Videographer and Editor
JungleNI - Fright Night Promotional Video
"Getting to work on a video for JungleNI's Fright Night was something a little out of the ordinary for me and it was really nice to work on something different to what I usually do day to day! It was nice to work on a project we had complete creative control over and no strict deadlines so we really had time to let our imaginations run wild when editing this!"

Ciaran McLaughlin, Senior Animator
HopSkip Studios - ‘What’s Next?’ Graphics Package
"Having never worked on a kids TV show before, it was a pleasure to explore ways to capture the interest and attention of a young audience through animation. ‘What’s Next?’ was so much fun to work on and enabled me to learn the in’s and out’s of creating content for TV. And to see my name in the credits is a nice bonus."

Natasha Rooney, Senior Animator
HopSkip Studios - ‘What’s Next?’ Graphics Package
"Turning these kids' whacky ideas into animations was great fun and a challenge! It allowed me to be really creative, especially with the cutout paper technique. I think the result turned out great and I’m looking forward to seeing our work on TV."

Kathryn Case, Project Manager
Artificial Intelligence Collaboration Centre - Brand Development
"Working on the AICC was a great challenge for me this year because I got the chance to fully own an integrated brand development project from beginning to end, and flex my account management skills. Working closely both with the client and lead designer has been really fulfilling and I've learnt a lot of professional skills, and a lot about myself along the journey."

Kat Robinson, Creative Strategist
Translink - Eco Heroes Materials (IDI Award Shortlisted!)
"Translink Eco Heroes was a true example of fantastic collaboration and client trust. We did things ‘the old fashioned way’, gathering around a table to share ideas and look at inspiration, ultimately finding an artwork style that really worked for the young target audience (and got us excited too!). We were able to really demonstrate our value in bringing creative solutions to the table, with copywriting, illustration and graphic design support."

Kerrie Bingham, Senior Brand Designer
Translink - Eco Heroes Materials (IDI Award Shortlisted!)
"The collaborative nature of this project made it really enjoyable to work on. When everyone brings their A game you feed off that creative energy and produce really meaningful work. It is a privilege to use creativity to educate young minds about sustainability and help in the fight against climate change."

Corey Watson, Brand and UX/UI Designer
Mutual Energy - Annual Report
"Collaborating with the team at Mutual Energy was an absolute pleasure. The entire process was smooth and efficient from beginning to end. Their work is fascinating, and I enjoyed the opportunity to learn something new. I'm excited to continue working with them in the future."

Ciara Topping, Senior Brand Designer
Pilgrim's Europe - Chef's Table Magazine Design
"It was a pleasure to work with the Chef’s Table (previously Hatch) team on such a significant issue. As the first edition under the ‘Chef’s Table’ name, this magazine brought together the best-loved elements of Hatch with fresh ideas, reflecting the merger of the two brands. The Christmas theme added a festive touch, and the recipes are just as delicious as they look!”

Will McIlroy, Brand Designer
Inspire - Lena Brand Identity
"Joining the team at Whitenoise has been an amazing experience, especially having the opportunity to work on a major branding project. Seeing my concept and brand come to life while being involved in every stage of the full-scale brand launch has been incredibly rewarding."

Marcin Wilkowski, Brand Designer and Photographer
Ards and North Down - Spring Tourism Campaign
“It wasn’t the biggest project I worked on this year, but I found something special about visiting small local cafes, craft shops and markets in different corners of County Down to capture their cosy atmosphere. There were many logistics involved, calls to make, and miles to drive, and I enjoyed it. Knowing that the client was happy with previous projects, gave me a free hand with schedule and art direction. The photos turned out so well that the client decided to add extra to the bill to get all of them instead of the limited amount agreed at the beginning.”

Taylor McCullough, Studio Assistant
Golden Popcorn - Graphics Package
“Golden Popcorn was one of the first projects I worked on at Whitenoise, and it was an incredible experience. As a placement student at the time, I had the opportunity to contribute my own ideas to their growth strategy and collaborate closely with the team. This creative content project gave me valuable insight into all aspects of the studio, including my involvement in the photoshoot that supported the animation we developed for them.”

Mark Case, Company Director
Translink - Customer Experience Travel Network Branding
"This project was (and continues to be!) a personal highlight of the year, and is a classic example of a ’10% design, 90% management’ project, as we had to negotiate the concept through numerous rounds of internal and external stakeholder engagement. The idea of using the interior spaces on Translink buses to communicate corporate messages isn’t particularly novel, but dealing with a wide variety of bus types, sizes and shapes, with unique artwork specs for each, was. With senior management approval, this project will roll out to the Glider network and possibly the train fleet in 2025, so watch this space!"

Laura Smyth, Company Director
NI Chamber of Commerce - Festival of Business
"Whitenoise exhibited at the NI Chamber of Commerce’s Festival of Business in St Georges Market this autumn and it was a fantastic event. Over 100 companies exhibited with more than 1,000 visitors and the atmosphere was electric. After booking our slot we had the idea of offering all event delegates the opportunity to have a brand new headshot photo taken of them, delivered to them by emails securely the next day. As most people were already dressed up for the event they were delighted to get a free photo and it was a brilliant way to connect with individuals and give them something useful to takeaway - instead of the usual branded pen! Thanks to this new way of exhibiting with an interactive giveaway, I now have an extra 160 friends I didn’t have before!"
