At Whitenoise Studios, we believe in the power of animation to educate, engage, and build empathy - especially when the subject matter is complex or sensitive. Earlier this year, we had the privilege of working with the Department of Justice to create a five-minute animation exploring restorative justice in the context of Northern Ireland.
Restorative justice is an alternative approach to traditional criminal justice. Instead of focusing solely on punishment, it places accountability, healing, and community dialogue at the centre of the process. In a society like Northern Ireland, where the legacy of conflict has shaped the justice system and community relationships, restorative justice offers a meaningful path forward - one that recognises the human stories behind harm and conflict.
Communicating these values effectively required a thoughtful, emotionally intelligent approach, a style that animation is uniquely well suited to deliver.
