An agile brand for the station with a big personality

In early 2022 we were commissioned by the IntoMedia Group to deliver a dynamic brand refresh for Northern Ireland's leading local radio station, Q Radio. With the aim of delivering an agile brand which showcased the personalities behind the microphone, we created a new look that juxtaposes modernity and simplicity with stacks of personality. The client brief was to retain the historic 'Q' element, but move away from the dated skeuomorphic, 3d 'glazed' logo to deliver a fresh new brand based on attitude, confidence and fun.

The 'Agile Q' is the real star of the show, opening up a whole world of possibility with just one letter. Based on flexible branding principles, we developed a responsive and timeless brand that will evolve over time, supporting this ambitious station as it continues to grow from strength the strength.

With a brand that trades inherently on its personality, it was essential that we kept the station presenters and staff close throughout the brand development. This informed our decision to launch internally before we 'went live', and the staff event was a massive success, with all attendees involved, informed, educated and equipped to support their new brand when it launched.

Alongside the brand itself, we delivered complete toolkits including comprehensive brand guidelines, media and sales packs, pitch decks, static and digital OOH advertising, online and social campaigns and a website refresh. The result speaks for itself, reinforcing Q's big personality, standing out in any crowd and cutting through to position the station as a 'must have' preset for listeners.
